City Board of Estimates approves land sale to Loyola; vote 2 against and 3 for sale
The Board of Estimates narrowly approved the sale of 49 acres of city-owned land in Woodberry to Loyola College on December 17th at their meeting. The vote was close, with 3 for the sale and 2 against. Council President Dixon and Comptroller Pratt voted against the land sale, with Mayor O'Malley, Solicitor Zollicoffer, and Public Works director George Winfield voting for it. Zollicoffer and Winfield were appointed by O'Malley
Board members stated their opinions on the stadium. Comptroller Pratt, who voted against the land sale, said that she wanted the vote delayed so the community would have time to review the Land Disposition Agreement (LDA), and didn't see much financial benefit in the land sale. Mayor O'Malley said he was glad this was over and thought the stadium was a good idea. Council President Dixon said that the board knew her opinion on the project from the beginning, and was disappointed that other council members passed the ordinance allowing the stadium. She has been very helpful to the community with dealing with this project.
