The Woodberry Planning Committee is composed of neighbors from all of Woodberry's enclaves and is committed to the improvement of the area through neighborhood planning. The Committee welcomes anyone who wants to participate- feel free to come to a meeting or just send us an e-mail.
This committee was founded by neighbors who realized that the best ideas for a neighborhood come from its residents, after having dealt with many developers both now and in the past wanting to plan Woodberry for us. We know what makes Woodberry great and what we would like to see changed, just like you do. Please give us your input on our plans to date and give us your ideas.
The Plan's goals are:
1- Create a sense of community
2- Revitalize and preserve the unique historical character andwoodland identity of the four neighborhoods in Woodberry
3- Protect and conserve a healthy greenbelt connection from Druid Hill Park to Cylburn Park and the Jones Falls

Here are some of the ideas that we are working on to improve Woodberry:
- Preserving as much open space in Woodberry as possible for resident enjoyment by creating a land trust to prevent areas like the playground and ballfield which are currently unprotected from being sold to developers in the future.
- Getting parts of Woodberry listed on the National Register of Historic Places (see Get Involved! for more info on this) to help give people funds to improve their existing housing or be able to fix up a vacant house that needs it.
- Beautifying the area though street trees, landscaping, and clean-up programs
- Enforce requirements for proposed developments in Woodberry
- Building and improving sidewalks for easier pedestrian navigation
- Creating nature trails through the Woodberry forest with landscaping and signs
- Develop a watershed management plan to conserve and improve Woodberry's forest, wildlife habitat, and open spaces
- Identifing commercial areas that are currently unused and work to get appropriate businesses in these areas
- Create a community newsletter
- Connect the Woodberry plan with other planning efforts
- Conduct an independent traffic study
- Establishing a "Youth in Stewardship" program to teach youth ecosystem management

What you can do to help!
- Help plan at meetings, or tell committee members your ideas
- Let your city representatives know that you support the Woodberry Planning Committee's plans. If the city knows that residents want this plan, they will also support it. Letting city council members know how you feel is the only way they know if they are doing what city residents want. Remember, YOU pay them with your taxdollars! Click here to find out who your city council representative is.
- We will be creating a mailing list in the future. When plans are being made that need your support, or if a plan that is unfavorable to our area is being proposed, we can send you an e-mail to let you know what's going on and how you can help. This is a quick and painless way to do something good in your neighborhood! To sign up for this mailing list, click here and tell us that you want to be included. We will keep your e-mail private, and you can stop receiving the e-mails whenever you want.
- Volunteer for upcoming projects. We like the company!
