Partnering with Parks and Recs to protect the forest

Woodberry Land Trust is in talks with the Department of Parks and Rec to reach a partnership agreement and facilitate the transfer of many land parcels in the Woodberry Forest from Housing and Community development to Parks ownership. This wouldn't make the land an official park, but the land would be considered parkland and may have more protection than it does now.

We are negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding with Parks to enter into an official partnership, and will be working with them to facilitate the land transfer.

The Neighborhood Greening Project

The Woodberry forest is nationally recognized by Scenic America as a "Last Chance Landscape". Invasive developments threaten to destroy the forest and harm the character of neighborhoods in Woodberry.

Project Description:

Permanent conservation, restoration, and management of 130+ acre public forest greenbelt connection with recreational trails between Druid Hill park and Cylburn Arboretum west of the Jones Falls.

WLT is creating a management plan for the forest and will be applying for funds to buy plants and materials to help carry out our project.
